Protect your children from UV rays at the time they are most vulnerable. Swimming and water activities demand even extra coverage whether in the water or out. This shirt can be worn all day to protect your child's delicate skin from the sun. The swim shirt is made of a lightweight stretchy nylon rated 50 UPF wet or dry. It features a turtleneck and half-sleeves. Dries quickly once out of the water. Rinse after chlorine or salt water use.
I really like this shirt because I can put it on my son (along with his sunhat, of course) and then I just have to worry about applying sunscreen to his forearms, hands, legs and feet. Much easier than trying to apply sunscreen to his entire body, and most sunscreens lose effectiveness rapidly and let plenty of damaging UV rays through, especially in the water. A physical barrier (such as sun-protective clothing) provides lasting and complete full-spectrum UV protection. And saves me money and hassle with sunscreen!
This is a great item to get *before* you go on vacation. Once you get to your destination they either won't have children's swim shirts, they will be poor quality, or they will be double or triple the price. So stock up now and get ready for fun in the sun, wherever you might be. It's much easier to just have a sun shirt tucked into your bag than it is to go looking for one when you could really use it!

Bigger sizes work fine on smaller kids. My son wore a Small swim shirt when he was a little over a year old, and it had full-length sleeves, went to mid-knee. It was like a slim-fit gown, worked great for sun protection without being too big or baggy and getting in the way of his fun. If in doubt about sizing, I recommend you go bigger.
