phil&teds Explorer Single-to-Double Convertible Stroller
FREE SHIPPING!
The phil&teds Explorer Stroller delivers an easily convertible single-to-double stroller (like its predecessor the Sport Buggy), plus terrific NEW features like: one-hand fast fold, a large follow-the sun sunhood, a 2nd seat sunhood, and an easy-to-use pedal brake. Wow! It's practically perfect!
I have a long history with phil&teds strollers. I was expecting my second child a few years ago and I had been bewailing the lack of options...didn't want a double-wide stroller, didn't want a double-long stroller, and didn't want a ride-behind, where my toddler would have to be counted on to stand up and hold on. But THIS! This strolller was genius. It was exactly what I was looking for. And if I didn't always *need* a double stroller, then I could just pop off the back seat and convert my double stroller back to a single stroller....perfect!
I saw this brilliant design at the playground and started researching it when I got home. It was the phil&teds e3 Buggy with a Doubles Kit attached. I immediately ordered one, tested it, and yes, it was awesome.
phil&teds kept coming out with upgrades, changes and improvements to that e3 model, and I kept upgrading along with them. I have tried the Classic, the Dash, versions 1 and 2 of the Sport Buggy, and now, the latest incarnation...the Explorer.
Out of all of them, the Explorer is the absolute best. It strikes a perfect balance of reasonable price and sweet features. Doubly amazing with the Doubles Kit. There are certainly more expensive strollers out there, but you'd be hard-pressed to find one that does everything that this one does. It's pure genius.
My preferred configuration for walks with two kids:
Doubles Kit seat tucked into cargo bin, ready for use. If my big kid gets tired of riding, I attach the Doubles Kit seat and he can either ride with the bike on his lap, or he can walk and put the bike by itself in the Doubles Kit seat.
Lastly, I have my baby carrier of choice in the cargo bin as well, just in case Mr. Baby gets fed up with riding and wants to be on my back
This system works GREAT, we can go as far as we like and everyone has a comfortable alternative way of riding.
If your big kid is really big (over 33 pounds), you will need to switch seats and put tht big kid in the main seat, with your little one riding behind. And don't waste your time pitying the backseat rider, trust me...it is the "cool" seat and if anything, kids will fight over who gets to sit back there.
TOTALLY LOVE...
This stroller is utterly flexible. Fits (one newborn) OR (one toddler) OR (1 newborn + 1 toddler) OR (2 toddlers).
Never more or less stroller than I need, and two kids ride with the same footprint as one. I have even strolled *three* kids pretty comfortably in a pinch (with one sitting in the front footbed) though that's a little unwieldy.
Turns on a dime.
Super smooth ride, easy to push.
All-terrain (though you might risk a flat tire on a sharp thorn. If you do get a flat, take the tire off with the push button on othe outside, and take it to a family-friendly bike shop. They should have tubes for stroller wheels. Get a heavy-duty replacement tube if you can. Haven't had a flat since I got heavy-duty tubes.)
Folds down amazingly small, can easily fit in the trunk of a subcompact sedan. Pop off the front wheel and this stoller gets TINY, even with the doubles kit.
Brilliant optional accessories to customize your buggy: a perfectly fitted UV/bug screen, rain/wind cover, pannier bags.
Ergonomic, adjustable handle.

This is the DOUBLE version. It just covers both seats of the stroller, for when you have two chldren on board. Note: Shown on Explorer, not included.
Q: Laura, why do you only sell the color black? A: Because the lighter colors show dirt and stains and spilled drinks and kid funk. I have personally owned and used Apple Green and Red buggies and they are very pretty at first, but they get stained and icky-looking in a very short time. Black is the top seller by a mile, it's chic and stylish, it never looks dirty, it matches everything. I don't have a lot of inventory space here, I only have room to stock the best.
