Baby on my back

Baby on my back, originally uploaded by mslaura.

This is where you will find Adrian approximately 90% of the time that he's awake.

A friend told me last week, "Wow, you look like you've lost a ton of weight."

Well yeah, considering I gained almost 60 pounds when pregnant, I have. My secret is weight training. I wear a baby carrier with a giant 27-pound baby in it almost all day long.

My 3.5year old son leaves a trail of crap behind him all day long, so I'm constantly doing squats with a weighted pack. Dude, I think I could leg press about a thousand pounds right now.

But seriously, thank goodness for my baby carrier(s), since this baby is deep in his pre-walking separation anxiety phase, and if I do ever try to put him down when he's not in the mood...the SCREAMING! it's eardrum-shattering. Like a jet plane taking off in my ear.

Well, we're off. I'm trying to have a light workweek this week, since I've had my nose to the grindstone forever and the kids were starting to resemble miserable gulag prisoners. I was not living my own philosophy about getting out of the house and maintaining maternal mental health.

We've gone on expeditions to parks, farms, playgrounds and exhibitions almost every afternoon and had a lot of fun. My productivity is almost zero, but what the hell...a working mom's gotta live sometimes.
